Day 7 - Yong Xiang Furniture Factory

The other company visit we went on today was Yong Xiang Furniture Factory, we lost our way to the factory again and ended up arriving pretty late.

Many of us made a beeline for the washroom the moment we alighted the bus. The toilets were shared again and as a result, there was a long queue. We also found another toilet in the second level, and it looked more like a store room than a wash room.

As it turns out, it was the wash room for the display area in the second floor. Oh, and its shared too. Nicholas and I had to 'guard' the place and take care of the girls' bags while they were in it.

We were given a tour of the manufacturing line and had the Q&A session on the move, however, the place was too nosy and Mr. Kam had to speak up for the lady.

We learnt that the factory was established in 1980s, and recently set up a separate factory for assembly, distribution in August 2004, the reason for the split in operations is due to overpollution.

It is the biggest furniture manufacturing and sales market in China and it manufactures and sells up to 2,000 - 3,000 sofas a year with most of its customers coming from the Middle East! Imagine that!

After the tour of the manufacturing line, we visited the exhibition area and had our Q&A session there.

Day 7 - CIFF 2007 Home Furniture Convention

We visited the Annual Furniture Convention in Guang Zhou at the Chinese Export Commodities Fair Pazhou Complex.

Xiao Deng said that in all large scale conventions in China, the flags of many international states will be on display at the convention location, such as the one we visited today.

The place is really huge and many of us thought it looked like an international airport.

The weather was still freezing cold that day and the place was packed. We had to wait outside the convention hall while Xiao Deng and Lao Yao sorted out our passes and registered as so we could enter the display area.

There isn't really much to do inside but walk around the place, the only attraction for most of us was the Disney furniture display area.


Many of the girls rushed to the area when the word got around.


After which most of us wondered around the place aimlessly and eventually, we were all out of the place much earlier than the allocated time we were supposed to leave the place. We went to MacDonalds and ran into Lao Yao, he was out of RMB and Pei Xuan had to treat him on a cuppa coffee and he told us we were his life saver. LoL

And it seemed that many of us lefted the convention hall early, we saw a lot of people at Mac's as well.

By the time we gathered and were ready to leave the place, we were all waiting for Wen Song, George and Edward. They apparently got lost within the huge place.
